Benefit BBQ & Dance
On Saturday, Feb 5th, we traveled to Nixon to participate, and help out, in a benefit BBQ and dance for Scott's dad. Back before Thanksgiving, Scott's dad started having strokes and has been in and out of the hospital over the past few months. It's been such a hard road, lately, for Don and Bonnie. Therefore, the small town of Nixon, TX decided to plan a BBQ and dance to show support to the Chessher family and show support they did -- A LOT of money was raised by such sweet & gracious people who love and care for our family so much! Please continue to pray for Scott's dad and his stepmom, Bonnie, as they will continue to have some difficult days ahead of them as he works toward his recovery.

25 Weeks...
This pregnancy is continuing to roll right along and we had a GREAT 24 week appointment last week! We can't believe we've come this far and have an almost 2-pounder in utero! Truly amazing! We are so looking forward to May, but I might need the time to slow down just.a.bit because there are too many things to get done and just not enough time! When does the official "nesting" kick in?!? HA!

Weekend With Friends
A few weekends ago, Scott and I headed to DFW to attend my best friend's sister's wedding! We were able to get in some quality time w/two of my Tech gal pals too! Traci, Ben, and little Patrick were kind enough to open their home for us to stay a couple nights! (Thank you, Reddings)! We ate a yummy lunch at Chuy's and met up w/Parker, little Parker, and Scotty! It is always a treat to be able to visit w/my precious college friends! I love that our husbands enjoy one another's company too! (p.s. just in case you'd like to open your home to us in the future, my talented husband will gladly take on any home improvement projects to "pay for our stay"! - just ask Ben)!!!!
We enjoyed being guests at Christa & Wade Isham's wedding! What a fun evening! I love being a part of my best friend's family - they make me feel like one of their own! It was also a special "reunion" because I had not seen my BFF, Jessica, in nearly a year and a half! We hugged and giggled and cried like it had been TEN YEARS! Scott and I were also able to finally meet Jessica & Rusty's adopted Haitian son, Lili! What a cutie! I wish this night could have lasted much longer, but now it's time to make plans to spend more time together and make sure it does not take another year and a half until that happens again!!!

Saying Goodbye
Just over a month ago, on December 21, 2010, my precious grandfather, Captain Thomas L. Distel, passed away in Ohio at the age of 86. Grandpa Distel had been affected by Alzheimer's for over 5 years and finally succumbed to the disease. Scott and I were not able to attend his funeral, but we find peace and comfort in the many great memories we have of him! Grandpa Distel will be sorely missed by his devoted wife, my sweet grandmother, of over 60 years, along w/his three sons (including my daddy, Tom), three daughters, 18 grandchildren, and 5 great-grandchildren.
Christmas 2010/New Year's 2011
We celebrated Christmas 2010 in Lubbock w/my parents, Tim, Amber, and baby Bryson! We enjoyed our visit and loved being able to be with Bryson for his very FIRST Christmas!
We then traveled to San Antonio to ring in the New Year w/Scott's family (and celebrate a belated Christmas with everyone)! We welcomed 2011 w/a quiet evening spent in at Steve and Michelle's apartment. What a difference from years past...this mama-and-papa-to-be stayed up to see the ball drop on TV, oohed and ahhed over fireworks outside, and then very happily turned in at about 12:15 am!
We are more than excited for this NEW YEAR and all the experiences we will be embarking on as first-time parents!!!
