How Does Your Garden Grow?

A couple weeks ago, Scott helped me dig up an area where I've wanted to plant flowers forever! I am proud of my "green thumb"!

The area could still stand to use some more foliage...maybe I can add to it on my day off on Friday!

p.s. I want to garden when I retire! :)

After:
and oh, by the way, my OCD kicked in -- I made a "plan" of where
all my plants were going to be planted before I put them in the ground!

Please lift up in prayer...

Please lift up in prayer a friend's wife who was in an accident last Friday evening.

Sasha Denman was burned over 15-20% of her body and is in Parkland Hospital in Dallas. Sasha is married to Jeff Denman, a long time friend of Tim's -- they graduated HS together in the Falls.

Please pray for Sasha's strength, as she will be undergoing a lot of treatments/surgeries for awhile and please pray for Jeff and the rest of their families -- that the Lord gives them peace in their hearts during such a tough time. God is good!!!

Sasha and Jeff's sister in law, Ruth, is keeping up with her progress, so feel free to visit:

D.C.

What a long-overdue post!

The last weekend of April, I surprised Scott w/his early 30th bday present -- a trip to D.C.!!! I had this trip planned since Dec. '08 and couldn't WAIT to let him in on it! It took a lot of preparing so that Mr. Birthday Boy would not find out a thing! My plan was to not tell him about our trip until the day before we were to fly out, and...I pulled it off! There were so many details to take care of, but everything worked out just fine, esp getting Scott out of work for 3 days!

I led him on a sort of scavenger hunt, through our house, looking for clues in places such as our bathroom, the hallway closet, and kitchen. At the end of his search, Scott found an envelope w/a poem I had written him and our e-tickets for the flights! He was soooo surprised! He even told my dad, on the phone, "I haven't stopped smiling!" Awwww!

We had a great time being tourists and seeing the sights - from museums to memorials - it was a fun trip! We were blessed to have been able to stay w/my Aunt Theresa and Uncle Don too - they were the BEST hosts!!! Thank you so much for your hospitality, ya'll - we felt like we were being spoiled at a B&B! We love and miss you both!

Here are some pics from our trip! Scott had a great birthday, overall, w/dinner and a movie on his actual bday and then the next day we ate sushi w/our friends Dan and Ash, as well as Katie, Chris, and Macee. Scott has extended his bday all the way to today since he was able to go buy a much-anticipated band saw w/all his bday blessings (aka: money) from family and friends!

I'm pretty sure he's enjoying being 30!!!

Bubba's Birthday!

On Friday, April 17th, Scott and I headed for the lake again! This time, we were meeting my family to celebrate Tim's 28th bday!!! Mom and Dad made the trip from Wichita Falls and Tim and Amber drove in from Lubbock!

We all had a great weekend! We spent Friday night just visiting, eating, and celebrating Tim's special day. On Saturday, it was cool and cloudy most of the day, but we still rented a pontoon boat for several hrs and trekked around the lake to fish. By about 3pm, the sun was out and we were gettin' tan!

Tim, Dad, and Scott golfed on Sunday morning while the gals relaxed and cleaned up the house so everybody could leave at a decent time. I was sad to see the weekend pass by so quickly, as it often does, but I feel so grateful that we all were able to spend such a special weekend together!

Thank you, Mom, Dad, Tim, and Amber for making the drive down to "our neck of the woods!" We really appreciate being able to spend such precious time w/our dear family! Love you!!!

What a cute couple!

Dirt Dessert - an old time Distel fave!!! Mom made this all the time when we were little and she still delivers it up quite right -- right along w/a terracotta pot, shovels, and gummy worms! Yummmmy!

I love these guys!

Amber and Dog -- How cute is this pic - they are posin' so pretty!

Easter

Easter was so fun this year! We spent our Easter Weekend and the lake w/Chris, Katie, and Macee! We were also excited to spend some time, on Friday night, w/Scott's cousin Jarrod and his two precious girls Savannah and Shelby (their mama was at home - we missed you Tana)!

The guys fished on Friday night while Katie and I stayed at the house w/3 little sleeping beauties! We watched "Marley & Me" and just relaxed. Saturday consisted of more fishing for the guys (while Katie and I, again, watched a movie - "Slumdog Millionaire"). All of us then decided to pack up and head into Burnet where the annual Bluebonnet Festival was going on! Even though the weather was a little dreary, it was still a fun time! Burnet did it up right - there were carnival rides, fair food to eat, booths to look and shop in, etc. It was a great afternoon. We then went home and enjoyed a wonderful ham dinner prepared by our sweet Katie!

Sunday morning started off rainy, but lo and behold, we were blessed w/warm temps and sunshine! Perfect weather for Easter morn! Chris, Katie, and Macee went to an Easter service at a church near the lakehouse, while Scott and I took a morning boat ride to reflect on the special day we were given! We also hid eggs for Macee to hunt! It was so fun to watch her walk around the yard and look for eggs, even though we had to help her w/the concept a bit! She did great! The rest of Sunday was relaxing - we all sat in the yard, in the sun, and soaked up the goodness of another beautiful Easter Sunday! I am so thankful to God for giving me such an amazing family to be a part of! I am also thankful to Him for giving us His Son, a Saviour who died on the cross, only to rise again for me and my imperfect life! How miracluous and wonderful is He!
